The properties of acrylic material
Acrylic is a plastic material known for its transparency, strength, and optical clarity.
Transparency: The transparency of acrylic is very high, and 92% of white light can pass through it, which is equivalent to the transparency of the best optical glass.
Strength: Acrylic has high strength and stiffness, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring a durable material.
Scratch Resistant: Acrylic is scratch resistant, making it ideal for applications where scratches are a concern.
Impact and Chemical Resistance: Acrylic has good impact and chemical resistance. It can withstand high stress for short periods of time and is resistant to a range of chemicals.
Thermal stability: Acrylic has a high glass transition temperature (the temperature at which a polymer changes from a hard glassy state to a rubbery state), which makes it thermally stable.
Lightweight: Compared to glass, acrylic is lightweight and easier to handle during installation.
UV Resistance: Acrylic will not yellow or become brittle when exposed to sunlight due to its UV absorbing properties.
Ease of Fabrication: Acrylic can be easily fabricated by cutting, drilling and polishing.
Chemical Resistance: Acrylic is resistant to many chemicals, making it suitable for use in chemical processing plants.
Wide Range of Colors: Acrylic comes in a wide range of colors and can also be tinted to custom colors.
Most of the acrylic is a transparent product, which has higher requirements for the finish of the acrylic. If you want to process better high-gloss requirements, you need to use PCD cutting tools.
PCD cutting tools are mainly used for processing high-gloss mirror effects of acrylic, gold, silver, copper, aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, and other materials.
We received an inquiry from an Indian customer who needed a milling cutter for finishing acrylic workpieces.
After our engineers communicated with customers one-on-one, we got the following information:
Processing position: hole processing
Hole depth: 240mm
Aperture: 8.0mm-5.0mm
Roughness requirement: 0.025
Machine speed: 1400
Workpiece length: 2800mm
Processing Material: Acrylic
At the same time, the customer provided us with drawings and workpiece drawings:
In the process of communicating with customers, we learned that customers have tried to use PCD and single-crystal tools, but failed to achieve the desired effect.
After the analysis by our engineers, the reasons why the customer's previous processing could not achieve the ideal processing effect are as follows:
1. The workpiece to be processed is a deep hole, and general PCD tools cannot meet the appropriate specifications;
2. This workpiece has strict requirements on roughness, but because the hole depth is very deep, the external cooling cannot achieve the cooling effect, and the roughness is difficult to meet the requirements;
3. The speed of the machine used by this customer is too low and needs to be further optimized;
More SuperHard's engineers try their best to provide customers with more suitable solutions based on previous case experience.
